You know you’re capable of shooting elopements, but you don’t have the portfolio to prove it yet.
You’re tired of trying to “make weddings look adventurous” when they just… aren’t.
You want to confidently pose and direct outdoors, but haven’t had the space to practice it.
You see photographers shooting adventure elopements in the mountains and think, “I could do that - if someone just gave me the chance.”
I wanted to .. I could feel that pull .. but my portfolio didn’t show that kind of work yet. Which meant the inquiries I wanted… just weren’t coming in.
I remember scrolling through photographers who were shooting in the mountains thinking,
“I could do that. I just need someone to give me the chance.”
But waiting for the “right couple” or the “perfect opportunity” kept me stuck. I needed space to practice, to experiment, and to learn by doing - without the pressure to get everything right the first time.
Because I know how it feels to be so ready for this next chapter, and not yet have the portfolio that proves it.
This isn’t about being experienced enough.
It’s about giving yourself the opportunity to grow into the photographer you already know you are.
If you feel the pull, I’ve been there. And I’ve got you.
slowly, intentionally, and outdoors, where the real stories happen.
Because when your work finally shows the kind of elopements you want to shoot, everything shifts. You’re not trying to “sell” the idea that you can shoot adventurous days anymore. People can see it.
Couples who want to get married in the mountains will look at your work and say,
“This is exactly what we’re looking for.”
And the biggest change?
Instead of trying to chase the dream, you’ll feel like you’re already standing in it.
This isn’t just a styled shoot.
It’s a guided, adventure-based content day designed to help you create the kind of work that attracts mountain-loving, intimate-ceremony, elopement-focused couples.
Set at Artist Point - where ridgelines, snow caps, and quiet alpine air make space for connection and storytelling you can feel.
Mount Baker has an undeniable sense of place - sweeping mountain views, open skies, and that quiet, expansive feeling that’s hard to describe but easy to feel. Images made here immediately communicate “adventure elopement photographer” without you needing to explain a thing. Your portfolio begins telling the story for you.
Instead of jumping from setup to setup, we’ll walk through the natural rhythm of an elopement - getting ready, the quiet moments, the adventure, the ceremony space, the celebration. You’ll learn how the day unfolds and how to support couples in a way that feels grounded, relaxed, and meaningful. This gives you experience you can speak to confidently when couples ask what elopements actually look like in real life.
You’ll be photographing real couples in a setting that encourages movement, exploration, and genuine emotion. You’ll get hands-on practice guiding people through storytelling moments rather than poses, which helps your images feel lived-in and real. This is the kind of work adventure-oriented couples connect with - and the kind that makes it easy for them to picture themselves in your photos.
You’ll receive images of yourself working, exploring, and existing in the landscape you want to be known for. When couples land on your website or Instagram, they’ll see that you belong in these environments - that this isn’t a new idea, but a direction you’re already living in.
This space was intentionally created for photographers who are moving toward more meaningful, nature-centered work. You’ll be surrounded by people who understand that shift and want to support it. The relationships built here often turn into referrals, travel buddies, and the kind of encouragement that keeps you moving when things feel slow.
You’ll have guidance in real time - how to prompt natural interaction, how to work with weather and shifting light, how to create movement that looks effortless, and how to ground couples in the moment. This makes directing feel less like performing, and more like noticing and encouraging what’s already happening.
There will be space to share work, ask questions, stay connected, and continue the momentum. Growth feels different when you’re not doing it alone - and opportunities tend to expand when you stay connected to the people walking a similar path.
This isn’t just what you’ll do -
with sweeping mountain views and signature PNW atmosphere
where you’ll practice storytelling, pacing, and presence
in a true mountain environment
with photographers who value nature, intention, and experience
to help your online presence match where you’re headed
so you feel steady and confident
to stay inspired, connected, and encouraged
For the photographers who are ready to say yes and step into this next chapter, there’s something extra waiting for you on launch day. (And it’s only available for the first 24 hours - to the waitlist only.)
This is your go-to resource for posing in a way that feels natural, emotional, and story-driven. Real, grounded movement and connection - the kind that adventure couples instantly recognize and respond to.
You’ll get styling suggestions that elevate the feel of your images, plus posing frameworks you can use again and again - so your portfolio feels consistent, intentional, and true to your vision.
This guide helps you start shooting the way you want to be booked.
Toss this camera in your pocket and capture:
• The hike up the ridge
• The in-between conversations
• The wind in everyone’s hair
• The way the mountains looked before golden hour hit
• The friendship + excitement + “holy crap we’re actually doing this” moments
These behind-the-scenes images are gold when it comes to storytelling online. They help people feel the experience, and when people feel something, they remember it
This is your permission to document the day the way it felt - not just the final images.
Artist Point is located near Mount Baker in Deming, Washington (the closest international airport is Seattle Tacoma International Airport). Once you’re officially enrolled, you’ll receive exact GPS map pins, recommended parking areas, and arrival notes. Most photographers either drive themselves or carpool - and we’ll open a group chat ahead of time to help coordinate rides if you’d prefer not to drive alone. The road is paved, accessible, and easy to navigate - no special vehicles or backcountry navigation required.
We’ll be walking to scenic viewpoints throughout the day, but nothing strenuous. Expect short, steady paths on maintained trails - just enough movement to feel immersed in the landscape without feeling physically taxed. You won’t need to be an avid hiker to participate. Comfortable shoes and layers are all you’ll need.
Weather is part of shooting outdoors - and learning to adapt to it is part of becoming confident with elopements. We’ll shoot through light shifts, cloud cover, and breezes in a way that feels safe and intentional. Moody weather actually photographs beautifully in the mountains - it adds depth and atmosphere. If conditions ever become unsafe (lightning, dangerous wind), we will adjust and enact a Plan B!
No. You don’t need to have shot an elopement before, and you don’t need a portfolio full of mountains to belong here. This content day was created specifically for photographers who are ready to move into adventure-based work and want opportunities to build that portfolio in a real, supportive environment.
You do not need to be “advanced” - but you should be comfortable operating your camera. You’ll receive light direction and support throughout the day, especially around posing and storytelling outdoors, but this is not a how-to-use-your-camera workshop.
Most photographers come alone - and many leave with real friendships that continue long after the day ends. The group is intentionally small (10 photographers max) so it feels welcoming and connected. You’ll have time to get to know everyone, shoot alongside people who are learning just like you, and build relationships in a setting that’s relaxed and open, not intimidating.
This day is designed to feel spacious, supported, and intentional - not rushed.
We’ll move through the flow of a real elopement day while giving you room to create, explore angles, and settle into your own shooting rhythm.
As we move along the trail, we'll lean into editorial movement and environmental story telling - using the landscape, texture, and motion to create dynamic, documentary-style imagery.
We’ll start with the couples in their casual attire - just being together. This is where you practice natural prompting, movement, and connection. Groups will rotate so everyone has time and space to shoot.
We'll meet at Heather Meadows/Artist Point parking area to connect, review safety notes, and walk through the flow for the afternoon.
A vow exchange + portraits with wide landscapes, intimate moments, and movement. Rotations allow each photographer plenty of uninterrupted shooting time.
We'll photograph intentional, "getting ready" moments, bride + groom individual portraits, and a vow exchange in a scenic alpine setting.
A relaxed pause along the trail to relax, refuel, capture flat lay details, and transition the couples into elopement attire. Optional branding photos for attendees.
As the light softens, we'll focus on cinematic couples portraits, open creative shooting, and atmospheric detail moments during golden hour.
For those who want one more beautiful moment to document in a close but different location, we'll offer an optional lakeside session to end the evening.
